Nibiru's Influence on Our Solar System

by Mark Schultz

Please note: This article refers to what has become dubbed as "Ancient Astronaut Theories", as well as the works of Zecharia Sitchin, whose work is revered and labeled "pseudoscience" alike. We are going to lightly look at what he says in his works without much of our own scrutiny or possible pessimism interjected.

You might have heard of Nibiru, or Planet X, or the brown dwarf star.  Or "Nemesis" or "Tyche", each with its own theories, beliefs and sets of pessimism attached.  Sometimes it's told as being very scary, and what the Bible is talking about when it has verses like these from Isaiah:

"... and the foundations of the earth are shaken.

The earth is violently broken,

The earth is split open,

The earth is shaken exceedingly.

The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard,

And shall totter like a hut..."

Or these from Luke:

"And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.

And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring;

men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken."

Do these verses describe what is coming?  Or do they describe something that already happened?

Well, if they refer to Nibiru, it could well be both.  Alledgedly when this planet orbits by, its gravitational pulls causes havoc on our solar system and atmospheric and natural chaos on earth.

What is this Nibiru planet all about and where is it?  Does it even really exist?

Like with just about anything in life, there are those people who believe it exits and those who do not (and those who don't care either way).

Perhaps the best and most detailed description of the concept of what Nibiru might have been, comes from the work of Zecharia Sitchin, a translator of Sumerian texts.

According to ancient knowlege he reprinted and discussed in his series of books, that some and I can imagine devout religionists found controversial because of its explanation of who the gods (and God) could very well have been, we have Nibiru and all that came with it to thank for being who we are and where we are.  For that reason among others, in ancient times Nibiru was extremely revered and feared as godly itself.

But let's have a look at this godly Nibiru, and start at the beginning:

Sumer was mankind's first orderly civilization.  Their account of how our solar system came to be sculpted was described as a Celestial Battle, refered to in many Sumerian texts, hymns and proverbs, but their main "bible" about the creation of our solar system was a text that spanned seven tablets.

Unfortunately of a Sumerian original only fragments and quotations have been found, but fortunately civilizations that came after Sumer in Mesopotamia, namely that of the Assyrians and Babylonians, have provided us with an Akkadian language version, mostly complete, with a few adaptations.

With the translating help of now deceased scholar Zecharia Sitchin, we are able to get a glimpse into the knowlege of the Sumerians, who wrote the tale of the forming of the solar system in story form, giving each planet a personality and depicting the tale as a battle legend.

According to these texts our Sun existed first, along with (or followed by?) Mercury, and farther away "TI.AMAT", the latter meaning "Maiden of Life". Gradually this solar system expanded by the birth of three pairs:

1. Venus and Mars, between Mercury and Tiamat.

2. Two huge planets Jupiter and Saturn, beyond Tiamat.

3. Uranus and Neptune farther out.

And then it happened. From outside this solar system, from somewhere in space an intruder appeared that would end up influencing the sculpting of this solar system irreversibly. The name of this intruding planet would be Nibiru in the original Sumerian, however the Babylonians later renamed this planet Marduk in honor of their god Marduk.

Artist rendition of Nibiru, sometimes also called the Winged Disk, because of the gasses forming "wings" or "horns".

As the intruding planet came near our solar system, the first planet to attract it with its gravity was Neptune. This force pulled a bulge out of the side of Nibiru/Marduk that tore away and most likely is now Neptune's moon Triton.

Same way, more satellites were created as Nibiru passed by Uranus. Uranus gained its four major moons during this encounter, and Nibiru gained three satellites.

Saturn and Jupiter's immense gravitational pull pulled Nibiru even more into the midst of this planetary system, and Nibiru had a collision with Saturn. It changed the path of Nibiru, and the chief satellite of Saturn ended up somewhere in the direction of Mars and Venus. This satellite of Saturn would go on to be known by us today as Pluto, although it would only later be repositioned to its orbit that we know of today.

The collision having changed the orbital path of Nibiru, Nibiru was now on course towards Tiamat.

Tiamat was quite unstable because of the two huge planets beyond her and the two smaller planets between her and the sun, pulling her all over the place with their gravitational forces. The result of this instability was that pieces tore off her that became raging satellites and moons orbiting around her.

One of these large satellites around her grew to almost planetary size and was about to attain its own orbit around the sun as an independent planet. The Sumerians called this planet KIN.GU.

The dramatics was about to start as Nibiru with its seven satellites was on its way towards Tiamat and its eleven satellites... would there be one catastrophic collision?

The two planets Nibiru and Tiamat did not collide. However, passing by so closely to each other, Nibiru in a clockwise orbit, and Tiamat in the ordinary counterclockwise rotation around the sun (as it is with all the planets in this solar system), the satellites of Nibiru did collide with Tiamat and her satellites.

Nibiru also shot bolts of electricity at the damaged Tiamat. One of Nibiru's satellites went inside her, splitting her heart. Her moons were thrown into new, wide elliptical, retrogade orbits. Today we know these as the comets, doing a part of their elliptical orbits in visible proximity to us only every some years.

Tiamat's formerly big moon Kingu, that was almost big enough to be a planet going off into its own orbit, was now damaged and deprived of its independence. Reduced in size and devoid of any atmosphere, waters and radioactive matter, it would stay in orbit around the battered and broken Tiamat.

Nibiru went on to make a turn around the sun, and then exited the solar system again. But through the encounters with this solar system, it was now caught in an orbit around our sun, just like the other planets of this solar system, except that Nibiru orbits in the opposite clockwise direction than the other planets, and instead of a roughly equally distributed circle around the sun, Nibiru has a very elliptical orbit with one turning point close to the sun and the other far beyond our farthest ordinary planet, somewhere in deep space.

Depiction of Nibiru's new orbit. (Nibiru is called "Planet X" in this illustration.)

Being in an orbit though means that it would make a turn through our solar system again and again.

Asif Tiamat hadn't had enough, Nibiru was bound to return to her again. What damage would Nibiru do this time?

Nibiru returned and this time, the impacts broke Tiamat in half. The upper part was collided with by the Nibiruan moon "North Wind", and the blow carried it with Tiamat's moon Kingu (that was previously going to be an independent planet but couldn't because of Nibiru's influence) off to a new position closer to the sun. This piece of planet with its one big orbiting moon is of course none other than what would be known to us as the Earth with our one big moon. Its new position closer to the sun made it warm enough for life to flourish over the next millions of years.

Kingu / Moon, that was going to be a planet on its own, but through these planetary events it ended up being the one moon of the Earth.  Because it was almost a planet on its own before this, the result is that, when comparing the Earth's moon's size in relation to the planet against that of other planets and one of their multiple moons, the Earth now has one exceptionally large moon.

The other half of Tiamat was smashed by Nibiru's moons to pieces. Today we call these orbiting remaining pieces the Asteroid Belt.

Also during this visit of Nibiru, the formerly chief satellite of Saturn that would in future be known as Pluto, was put by Nibiru into its orbit we know today. It's an inclined and peculiar orbit on the outskirts of our solar system, that sometimes takes it between Neptune and Uranus.

Ancient Sumerian depiction of our solar system, around 6,000 years old.  It has all the planets in place and in size relation, except Pluto which would only later be positioned where it is now.

Modern depiction of our solar system

Having thus sculpted our planetary system, Nibiru would continue to return again and again. One orbit, thusly one Nibiruan year would later be known to take around 3,600 years earth time. The perigee (orbital point nearest the sun) is the asteroid belt on the opposite side of the sun where it had once encountered Tiamat, while the apogee (the other turning point of the ellipse) is somewhere in deep space beyond Pluto. Counting from the inside starting with the sun, Nibiru is the 12th member of our solar system.

Nibiru's orbit is elliptical and stretches from the asteroid belt into deep space.  In the same time one year passes on Nibiru (one orbit around the sun), 3,600 years pass on earth.

Because scientists today have not seen Nibiru but some do claim to know (while others debate this heatedly) that the gravitational pull of possibly a big heavenly body from beyond Pluto is working in on our outer planets, this body is still being called "Planet X". Likely Planet X, if ever found, will turn out to be nothing other than what the Sumerians called Nibiru, the 12th member of our solar system;  that is if such a planet is ever found as NASA denies any current knowlege.

A reason some may believe it does exist though, is that some research indicates over 80% of star systems are binary in nature. When astronomers look into space they see star systems having 2 suns as the norm. Does our sun have a dark companion? Many astronomers postulate that there is a dark star, brown dwarf companion to the sun. This brown dwarf system is of a highly elliptical, comet like, 3600 years orbit around our sun. Those who know of Nibiru are connecting these dots.

Further translations by Zecharia Sitchin would indicate that Nibiru actually had a head start on the development of life, and that beings already evolved to what we call "intelligent life" were already capable of space traveling to earth more than 400,000 years ago. Here they found the most intelligent being was an ape-like man, or perhaps what we call homo erectus, and through a long series of experiments in which they more and more mixed their own DNA with that of the simple man, they created a thinking, talking version of this animal that we call mankind, to serve them and revere them as the gods who came from up there in the heavens.

Ancient Sumerian map, believed to be a map with instructions on how to navigate from Nibiru to earth in a space rocket.

Man's religions up to the present day is the left-overs of this idea of serving some really smart all knowing powerful being(s) who's from somewhere up there beyond the stars. Jesus is suspected to so be of godly origins, which might explain his believed ascend to heaven in the end - where did he ascend up to? Up to Nibiru perhaps?

Today, those who believe the powerful gods from ancient mythologies and today's religions were not spiritual (only) but see evidence that they were physical beings (called in Sumerian the Annunaki and in the Bible the Anakim and later Nefilim/Nephilim) from Nibiru who knew how to put on powerful shows with their further developed technology (and according to Genesis came down and intermingled with human females, giving birth to giants), are labeled "ancient astronaut theorists".

It is usually here where religious people dig in their heels and end their interest in the subject of Nibiru and the Annunaki, for they, though those I've talked to haven't the feintest idea whatsoever where their Bible scripts originate from, do not want to ever know the mechanics behind how their Bible came about.  They find more comfort in believing it's solely a mysterious spiritual thing.

Nibiru and the resulting gravitational influences are also suspected by some (as was by the Sumerians) of being the cause of the major flood that hit in Noah's (or Ziusudra's in Sumerian) time, as well as possible earth pole shifts.

In modern times, mostly based on the Aztec calendar of indicating time only up until 21 December 2012, many scare stories were doing the rounds that Nibiru will be back at that time and end our current civilization through causing more damage and chaos, perhaps another Noah's type flood. They used the current earthquakes, tsunamis and weather and climate changes as evidence of approaching instability. Some religious fanatics claimed Jesus would return at that time.

2012 however was NOT the time that Zecharia Sitchin predicted as likely for the planet itself to be back here, based on his studies. People tried to bring together Zecharia's Sitchin's writings and the Aztec calendar to prove the return of Nibiru in 2012, but nope, Sitchin's work clearly states 2012 was NOT it. His END OF DAYS book tries to discuss POSSIBLE times, based on various scenarios, but 2012 was not the time Nibiru would be here again. He clearly states the problem is we do not know exactly when to start the count of 3,600 years from.

One thing his work does state is that throughout history, Nibiru was first seen in the Southern skies when it does come, so scan the earth's Southern skies if you have access to it and believe it's the time for Nibiru's return.

Ancient Sumerian depiction of the radiating planet, Nibiru.  The rays most likely represent the radiation (Nibiru radiates its own heat) while the cross motif depicts the fact that Nibiru crosses paths with the other planets, since it orbits in the opposite direction (clockwise) as can be seen in the picture below.  Nibiru for this reason was also known as "The Planet Of The Crossing".  Many scholars speculate that there's a correlation between the cross in religion and The Planet Of The Crossing where the gods originate from.

For now, Nibiru is one of the greatest and most re-embraced myths of our time from ancient times, until it proves its existence with its arrival.

The fact that seeing would be the best way to believe doesn't stop millions of people to run away with the idea prematurely though.  The internet is full of proofs and spoofs about Nibiru.

Proofs range from unclearly photographed sun reflections on camera lenses, passing in their eyes as an extra planet on the resulting photograph, videos that show two suns visible in earth's sky (of which one is Nibiru), to claims that the government would never tell the people if such a planet was spotted on a collision course with earth.

Photo "proofs" above;  claims of Nibiru close to the sun, therefore seeming like there are two suns in the sky in video below:

What might NASA say about the matter though?   These quotes come from the NASA website, nasa.gov:

"Nibiru, a purported large object headed toward Earth, simply put - does not exist. There is no credible evidence - telescopic or otherwise - for this object's existence. There is also no evidence of any kind for its gravitational affects upon bodies in our solar system.

I do however like the name Nibiru. If I ever get a pet goldflish (and I just may do that sometime in early 2013), Nibiru will be at the top of my list."

"There are no credible predictions for worrisome astronomical events in 2012. The activity of the sun is cyclical with a period of roughly 11 years and the time of the next solar maximum is predicted to occur in the period 2010 - 2012. However, the Earth routinely experiences these periods of increased solar activity - for eons - without worrisome effects."

And, for those thinking Nibiru will cause the end in 2012:

"The predictions of doomsday or dramatic changes on December 21, 2012 are all false. Incorrect doomsday predictions have taken place several times in each of the past several centuries. Readers should bear in mind what Carl Sagan noted several years ago; "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence."

(These quotes are from: NASA.gov.)

Well, in conclusion, there you have it - two viewpoints.  One believes Nibiru was known since ancient times and is now being rediscovered, and one that believes there is no such thing as Nibiru.

But what is certain from "Nibiru fever" all over the world though is that Nibiru have already influenced the minds of millions, and that in itself is already a big influence.
