FUNNY RUBBISH: The DV tape has come and gone

by Daniel Vernon

Do you remember the DV tape?

I'm sure some of us have a huge collection of DV tapes somewhere.

DV tapes were used in video cameras from about the years 2000 until 2010.

Some HDV cameras also used DV tapes to record on, only in a higher resolution than normal DV.

And then came the years after 2010.

Suddenly, we're all using video cameras with built-in memories and flash cards.

Almost overnight, the DV tape became obsolete.

I'm not even sure they're making any new DV cameras. The DV camera recorded only in standard definition, and now everybody's using HD and 4K.

It's amazing how the technologies speed by us, coming and then going.
